Since the outbreakof the COVID-19 pandemic，Zhejiang University has taken targeted measures forpandemic prevention and reopening campus. In addition to enhancing the campussecurity defense, Zhejiang University has given full play to the mode of"Internet + education" and carried out the education and teachingworks for postgraduate students.

ZhejiangUniversity has deeply realized that postgraduate entrance examination is avital way for the country to select high-level talents. To minimize the impactof the COVID-19 pandemic, Zhejiang University has held special meetings formany times to analyze the current situation. The leading group of graduateenrollment work and the Graduate School have repeatedly weighed, carefullydesigned, and finally decided to mainly adopt the mode of remote examinationfor postgraduate enrollment. A specific plan was formulated by the GraduateSchool and has been implemented after being reviewed and approved by the universityaffairs meeting, the Standing Committee of University  Party Committee and the higher competentauthority.

Departmentsand divisions have been collaborating to ensure the effect. The InformationTechnology Center checked the network security and timely provided necessarytechnology and network support. ZJU began to build a wide spectrum of smartclassrooms, equipped with new functions such as audio recognition andsimultaneous interpreting. Thanks to its smart campus, a total of 300 smartclassrooms have been quickly put in place for teachers to shoot video coursesor live stream their classes this year. In addition, the Information TechnologyCenter updated the network of more than 500 classrooms to ensure the work. TheDepartment of General Affairs disinfected the multimedia rooms and ensuredelectricity supply. Due to the demand of remote examination, the module for theexamination of postgraduate based on ZJU Ding was developed and deployed inless than 10 days. As a postgraduate education management department, the GraduateSchool timely released "the Arrangements for the Examination and AdmissionWork for the 2020 Postgraduate Enrollment” , “the Notice for Remote Interview Candidates”and the announcements of the examination plan for each college and department,providing thoughtful and timely consulting, so as to enable the candidates betterunderstand the process, the admission requirements, required equipment,environment and material requirements for the examination and get prepared. TheGraduate School compiled the "Remote Examination Operation Guide" and"Basic Specification of Examination Group" and operationinstructions, and organized two remote training for the examination staffs onApril 30^th and May 4^th successively. The number ofparticipants in the training, including department leaders, graduate educationmanagement personnel and secretaries of examination group exceeded 1,500person-time.

To ensure secured, fair and scientificexamination for the postgraduate candidates, the Graduate School has formulateda detailed remote examination scheme and a series of guarantee measures. Thecolleges and departments took active actions to ensure the work, made detailedpostgraduate examinations plans, organized and conducted a series ofsimulations and rehearsals, involving platform operations, examinationprocedures and network fault resolution. More than 700 secretaries have been arrangedand more than 260 devices have been equipped with the examination teams.

Since May 6^th , the University leaders incharge of graduate education, the leaders of the Graduate School and theleaders of the colleges and departments respectively led the team to participatein the simulation exercises on site at different campuses, in order to solvethe existing problems and improve the work plan.

ZJU started theremote examination for the 2020 postgraduate enrollment on May 8^th at the Department of Physics. According to the research fields, the Departmentof Physics selected 25 professors to form 5 examination groups, all of whichwere headed by the discipline leader and vice headed by the secretary of theteaching and administrative Party branch. The proportion of high-level talentsin the expert group has reached 90%, which shows that the Department of Physicsand the tutors attached great importance to the postgraduate examination work.

Nearly 7000candidates have been already taken part in the postgraduate examination duringMay 8^th -19^th and about 5000 will be admitted.
