Five ZJUers named "Innovators Under 35" in China

MITTechnology Review debuted its 2nd China edition of “Innovators Under 35” for2018 yesterday. This year, three faculty members of the University, Dr. DI Dawei of College of Optical Science andEngineering, Dr. LI Tiefeng of  School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Dr. LU Yingying of College of Chemical and BiologicalEngineering and two ZJU alumni, LI Dong and SHI Jianping, wererecognized as top innovators in China.

DIDawei

Organic and perovskitelight-emitting diodes

CurrentPosition: Principal Investigator, College of Optical Science andEngineering, Zhejiang University; Visiting Researcher, CavendishLaboratory, University of Cambridge

AwardCategory: Pioneers

Reasonsfor Award: For his contributions to the research and development ofnext-generation high-efficiency, low-energy-consumption display and lightingtechnologies, including organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and perovskitelight-emitting diodes (perovskite LEDs). His works led to efficiency recordsfor low-cost, solution-processed OLEDs and perovskite LEDs.

LITiefeng

Soft robots

CurrentPosition: Associate Professor, Department of Engineering Mechanics, Schoolof Aeronautics and Astronautics, Zhejiang University

AwardCategory: Visionaries

Reasons for Award: Forhis dedication to the multi-physical field coupling mechanics of soft materialsand robots. He has made important contribution to the investigation ofmechanical behaviors and system design for soft materials and robots.

LUYingying

New battery technology

CurrentPosition: Principal Investigator, State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering,College of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Zhejiang University

AwardCategory: Inventors

Reasonsfor Award: For her research and education in the field of lithium metalbatteries, a type of battery with theoretical energy density several times higherthan regular lithium-ion batteries. She has made outstanding contribution tothe research of protective mechanism of lithium metal negative electrode andbattery safety.
