Recently, the delegation from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine, led by Professor James D Ferguson, Clinical Nutrition, Department of Clinical Studies, reached Hangzhou and paid an 8-day visit to Zhejiang University.
It is said that the delegation was composed of 6 teachers and 12 students and they mainly visited College of Animal Sciences. The staff of the Institute of Dairy Sciences showed Zhenxing Dairy Farm, Jinjiang Dairy and Fuyangfulun Dairy Farm to the delegation and introduced the scale and management mode of the dairy farms to them in detail. Professor Songhua Hu, deputy director of the Institute of Dairy Sciences, made a speech “the acupuncture in Chinese traditional veterinary medicine” and demonstrated acupuncture on animals. The students of the University of Pennsylvania showed great interest in Chinese acupuncture.
Besides, the delegation of the University of Pennsylvania had academic exchanges with the teacher and students of College of Animal Sciences. Both the teacher and students from the two universities shared their own experiment design and partial research results. The intercourse between Chinese and American students enhanced their understanding of different cultures and educational systems and broadened their horizons.
Professor Jianxin Liu, dean of College of Animal Sciences and director of the Institute of Dairy Sciences, attended the academic exchanges. Some teachers and postgraduates were present at the reception.
